V
Total pressure is the sum of two components:
* Static pressure
- an expression of the molecular agitation of the fluid
* Dynamic pressure
- equivalent to kinetic energy per unit of gas volume
V Vf_Fluid’s speed
The ratio between Dynamic Pressure and the Speed of the Fluid may be expressed by the formula:
* Formula
Vf = k √δP
*
With Air at Atmospheric Pressure with:
*
Vf_Speed of the Fluid [m/s]
*
P_Dynamic Pressure [Pa]
*
K the Value is 1,293.
V Q_Flow rate
Flow rate is calculated with the Formula:
* Formula - Legenda
Q = Vf • Sc
*
Q_is the Rate of Flow [m3/s]
*
Vf_The Speed [m/s]
*
Sc_the pipe surface [m 2]
*
The K-flow probe is a sensor in the category of multipoint Pitot tubes which, when connected with a differential pressure gauge, can be used to measure Dynamic Pressure and therefore Speed.
> MANUFACTURE
* localhost—058_Kf1_040.gif
The K-flow probe is made of extruded aluminium. Its section has an aerodynamic shape and is divided into two separate chambers by an inclined wall.

Ps Static Pressure
Pt Total Pressure
The lower chamber is subject to total pressure, the upper one to static pressure. A differential pressure gauge measures the difference between the two and supplies dynamic pressure. Under highly turbulent conditions, the static pressure tubes may be positioned as appropriate within the area shown in dark grey
If the probe is installed at a point where there is no strong turbulence, the position aligned with the pipe is correct. This ideal condition is rarely the case. It is therefore useful to adjust the inclination of the probe axis in relation to that of the pipe.
* 058_Kf2_031.gif
The K-flow probe should be positioned at an appropriate point on the pipe with two flanges anchored to the pipe. A ring nut with three slots and a specially shaped slit is screwed onto each flange. The probe is inserted in the channel through the slits in the two ring nuts; the slots permit rotation of the probe between +7° and -7°.

The probe axis must be inclined in relation to the pipe axis in the presence of turbulence in the flow making the signal unstable. A differential pressure gauge may be used to determine the position with the least instability. Error in relation to the true value may be determined using comparative measurement at a different point in the circuit, if necessary. For instance, in a painting cabin the rate of flow should be measured at the aspirating wall.
V
Error against true value is calculated, when necessary, by comparison with a control measure in another suitable point of the circuit .
*
In an open spray booth, for instance, the Flow rate is measured by the Filter wall.

> CONFIGURATIONS
Product
V Read Only
* localhost—058_Kf4_060a.gif
The simplest configuration is read only for clean air. A differential pressure gauge indicates dynamic pressure.
On request, the pressure gauge may be constructed with a scale in m/sec or m3/s.
The information is used to adjust ventilator rpm or the degrees of opening of an air lock manually, or to evaluate whether it is necessary to replace filters.
